I believe in transparency so my fee is posted here. What you see is what you get. Participating in therapy is an investment in your health and wellbeing so I believe that it is important to be informed. I am a private pay out of network therapist and the rate is $150 for 55 minutes of psychotherapy. This is billed to your card on file via automatic payment after each session. Once you become a client you will be given access to a client portal where you will enter your information, including method of payment. Payments are securely processed via Stripe in the Simple Practice platform, and your information is completely protected and private. You can go into your client portal and edit your payment method at any time.
I am out of network which means I choose not to be paneled with insurance companies. If you are looking for an anxiety therapist in Columbus Ohio and to use your insurances’ out of network (OON) Benefits:
I have partnered with Mentaya to help clients use their out-of-network benefits to save money on therapy. Use this tool to see if you qualify for reimbursement for my services. Your insurance may reimburse 50-80% of your session cost. Average reimbursement is around 62%.
Not all insurances have OON benefits but many do so please put in your information to check! You may have to meet an OON deductible first. Medicaid and traditional Medicare plans do not have out-of-network benefits and are not eligible for reimbursement through Mentaya.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Superbill?
A superbill is a detailed receipt for therapy services that includes all the information your insurance company needs to process an out-of-network claim. If you have out-of-network benefits, you can submit a superbill to your insurance company to request partial reimbursement for your sessions.
At Ember & Oak Counseling, you’ll automatically receive monthly superbills (sent at the end of the month automatically) if you’d like them, or you can request one at any time. These documents include:
The date and length of your session
The service code (CPT code)
The fee you paid
Your diagnosis code (required by insurance for reimbursement)
Provider information (my name, credentials, NPI, and tax ID)
Tip: Every insurance plan is different so be sure to check with your insurance company for questions about reimbursement.
If you chose to use Mentaya to electronically submit superbills for you, you will have to sign up for the service at Mentaya.com/patients. I will enter in the information the insurance company needs for the superbill to Mentaya after our session. Mentaya charges a $7.50 fee to electronically submit the superbill for you. They will then submit the information electronically and track the claim step by step until you receive your reimbursement. Your insurance will reimburse you via check by mail (if you call them they may allow you to add a card so that they can ACH you the amount).
Do I need a superbill?
Not everyone does! If you’re planning to use out-of-network benefits, a superbill is how you’ll request reimbursement from your insurance company. If you’re paying out-of-pocket and don’t plan to submit to insurance, you don’t need one.
How do I use a superbill?
It’s simple — you’ll submit the superbill (usually through your insurance company’s online portal or by mail) to request reimbursement. Each insurance company has its own process, so check their website or call the member services number on your insurance card for exact steps.
Will my insurance cover all of the cost?
Most insurance companies reimburse only a percentage of your session fee (often 50–80%). You’re responsible for the full session cost upfront, and any reimbursement comes directly from your insurance provider.
Do you provide the superbill for me?
Yes! I generate superbills for you. You can request one anytime, or choose to have them automatically sent to you monthly.
Can I use an HSA or FSA card instead of submitting a superbill?
Yes therapy is typically an eligible expense. Many clients use their HSA or FSA cards to pay directly, without going through the reimbursement process.
