FAQ: OCD and Anxiety Therapy in Columbus and Worthington Ohio

  • Who do you work with?

I work with adults who are experiencing OCD and related disorders, anxiety, panic, intrusive thoughts, health anxiety, contamination fears, checking and reassurance cycles, perfectionism, and body focused repetitive behaviors.

  • Where do you see clients?

I offer in person therapy at:

    1115 Bethel Road
    Columbus, Ohio 43220

I also provide secure telehealth services to clients located anywhere in Ohio.

  • How do I book a first appointment?

You can schedule a free 15 minute consultation or request an intake using my online booking calendar. During the consultation, we will discuss your goals, treatment fit, and next steps.

  • What should I expect during the first session?

The first session is an evaluation. We will explore your symptoms, history, and goals. You will leave with a clear understanding of your diagnosis, how OCD operates in the brain, and the initial plan for treatment.

  • What is ERP and why is it first line for OCD?

Exposure and Response Prevention is the gold standard treatment for OCD. ERP helps you gradually face triggers while practicing not performing compulsions or mental rituals. This retrains the brain to tolerate uncertainty, reduces false alarm responses, and helps obsessive thoughts lose power.

  • How is ERP different from traditional talk therapy?

Traditional talk therapy often focuses on insight and reassurance, which can act as compulsions for OCD. ERP targets the learning process that drives OCD, helping you face fears and break compulsive patterns. This leads to durable change rather than temporary relief.

  • What does an ERP session look like?

Sessions are structured and collaborative. We review progress, practice exposures, build response prevention skills, and plan out your exercises between sessions. Treatment is paced to your readiness and goals.

  • How long does treatment take?

Most people complete a structured course of ERP in about 12 to 20 sessions. The timeline depends on severity, consistency with practice, and co occurring needs.

  • Do you integrate other therapeutic approaches?

Yes. I integrate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, mindfulness, nervous system strategies, and motivation building techniques to support ERP and overall emotional well being.

  • Will I have therapy homework?

Yes. Short, structured practice outside sessions helps your brain learn more quickly. We choose exercises together to ensure they feel doable and purposeful.

  • Does telehealth ERP work?

Yes. Numerous studies show that ERP delivered via telehealth is as effective as in person treatment. Telehealth can increase consistency and access without reducing effectiveness.

  • What platform do you use?

I use a HIPAA compliant video platform called Simple Practice that works in most browsers. You will receive a secure link before each session.

  • Do you offer evening appointments?

I offer select morning and early evening appointment times. Availability varies, so please check my online scheduling calendar.

  • What are your fees?

I operate as a private pay practice and my fee is $150. This is due at time of service and charged to the card you place on file automatically. HSA and FSA cards are accepted, and I provide superbills for potential out of network reimbursement through your insurance.

  • Do you offer reduced fees?

I offer a limited number of reduced fee spots. If cost is a concern, please ask about current availability.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

Please provide at least 24 hours notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Late cancellations or missed appointments may be charged the full session fee.
